Animal house facilities

The animal house at NIIH is registered with Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CPCSEA). It houses rabbits and balb/c mice. In house breeding is done and is looked after by well trained staff. Institution animal ethical committee’s clearance is obtained for experiments involving the use of animals.

  1. Rabbits are bled once in 3 months to obtain complement to be used for tissue typing in HLA.
  2. Balb/ c mice are used to genetrate murine monoclonal antibodies pertaining to the institutes need.

Till now murine monoclonal antibodies against ABH blood groups have been generated.
